Ascentium Named One of Washington’s Best Companies to Work For
(SEATTLE, September 8, 2009) — Leading digital agency Ascentium Corporation has been listed by Seattle Business Monthly as one of “Washington’s 100 Best Companies to Work for in 2009.” Ascentium has been noted for its flexible work schedules, creative benefits, and work environments featuring “play rooms” where employees can take a break and play Wii, Xbox, Ping-Pong, and foosball.
This is one of the reasons that Ascentium has continued to grow and attract the best talent in spite of the current economic downturn. For the fifth year in a row since 2005, Ascentium has made the 2009 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America.
“ Seattle Business Monthly acknowledges those companies that recognize employees as their greatest asset,” said Ascentium President Jim Beebe. “This is a tremendous honor and a true testament to Ascentium’s commitment to bettering the quality of life of our employees, which has always been one of our core values.”
The
Seattle Business Monthly
Best Companies list is a result of a survey conducted every year since 1994. Companies nominate themselves and then distribute an employee survey that must be filled out by 50% of the full-time, regular employees. An independent research firm compiles and analyzes all of the survey data. Finally, a panel of distinguished judges from the human resources field selects the final winners.
Ascentium recognizes that its talented employees are the reason that it continues to build upon the strength of its brand and remains committed to serving its growing roster of clients, customers and partners worldwide. # # # ABOUT ASCENTIUM

Ascentium Chief CRM Architect, Aaron Elder, Named Microsoft MVP for Third Year in a Row
BELLEVUE, Wash.—April 15, 2008—Ascentium Corporation, a leading interactive marketing and technology consultancy, today announced that Aaron Elder received the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award for the third year in a row for his continued commitment to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM community. Receipt of the award is confirmation of Elder’s professional leadership in the customer relationship management (CRM) arena and of Ascentium’s commitment to supporting its CRM thought leaders.
"Elder’s MVP accomplishment is one of the reasons the Ascentium National CRM Practice has influenced the sale of more Microsoft Dynamics CRM licenses than any other Microsoft partner,” said David Kohar, Ascentium partner in the National CRM Practice. “The depth of technical expertise we offer is unparalleled. People like Elder ensure that their expertise directly benefits the CRM community and the customers we serve."
The Microsoft MVP Award annually recognizes exceptional technology community leaders worldwide who actively share their high-quality, real-world expertise with users and Microsoft. Microsoft MVPs represent a highly select group of experts. Worldwide, there are over 100 million participants in technical communities; of these participants, there are fewer than 4,000 active Microsoft MVPs and less than 25 of those are Microsoft Dynamics CRM experts. MVPs share a deep commitment to community, a willingness to help others and a passion for technology. This year, Elder’s contributions included providing Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 technical training for worldwide partners and ISVs. He also led the Ascentium team that delivered a custom application that provides a suite of tools to make demonstrating the power of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 easier for all partners worldwide. Elder is a passionate advocate of using Microsoft CRM as a platform for building line of business applications. This strategy is the key to five Ascentium clients receiving Customer Excellence Awards from Microsoft for their solutions built on Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
Despite his strong contribution to the worldwide community, Elder still has time to mentor developers in Ascentium’s National CRM Practice, making it an attractive incubator for upcoming talent in CRM development. “Aaron was definitely the reason I took this job,” said Ascentium CRM developer Brandon Clausing. “He makes Ascentium the best place to learn how to develop on top of Microsoft Dynamics CRM.”
Previously a Microsoft employee who served on the Microsoft CRM product development team, Elder contributed significantly to Microsoft’s initial CRM application. His contributions to the application have continued while Director of Software Development at Invoke Systems and now as Chief CRM Architect at Ascentium. Ascentium maintains an active CRM Development blog (http://www.ascentium.com/blog/crm/) to which Elder is a frequent contributor.

NBA Franchise Looks Forward to a Slam-Dunk With Microsoft Dynamics CRM
Familiarity, ease of use, integration capabilities and Web-based architecture prompt Portland Trail Blazers' switch to new Microsoft CRM platform.
REDMOND, Wash., June 4, 2007 -- The Portland Trail Blazers, a franchise of the National Basketball Association based in Portland, Ore., has selected Microsoft Dynamics(TM) CRM 3.0 to more effectively serve an increasingly wide range of customers. The Portland Trail Blazers' IT team expects the new system to play a critical role as the organization shifts to serving a more demographically diverse range of customers due to the recent repurchasing of the team's home facility, the Portland Rose Garden.
The franchise chose to replace its existing Onyx CRM system with Microsoft Corp.'s premier customer relationship management system to help manage and maintain relationships with not only its core of basketball fans, but concertgoers and attendees of many other types of events as well. Integrated with Microsoft(R) Office Outlook(R), Microsoft Dynamics CRM has the same look and feel as Outlook, overcoming user training and acceptance issues right from the start. Microsoft CRM enhances IT's ability to put business intelligence into the hands of those responsible for sales and marketing, Microsoft Dynamics CRM beat the Onyx solution in terms of cost as well; the Onyx system cost thousands of dollars per seat and the Microsoft option came in at $1,000 per seat.
"In the end it all comes down to how much we know about our customers," said Chris Dill, chief information officer with the Portland Trail Blazers. "And the more we know about our customers, the more we're able to renew current customers or up-sell customers or sub-segment our sales messages to sell based on the customers' preferences. With the valuable data that Microsoft CRM makes available to our sales teams, we can offer special promotions to fans based on their taste, from specific players to specific teams to specific musical artists and special events. We expect the system to dramatically improve the customer service and sales aspect of our business."
Dill says one of the chief benefits of Microsoft Dynamics CRM is that the system is suited to be at the center of the "Yield Engine." That engine consists of entities such as the ticketing system, the sponsorship inventory system, Web sites, reporting engines and various other databases. Dill expects Microsoft CRM to help the organization tie all data together to yield better results. The Yield Engine should help specific sections of the organization including inside and outside ticket sales, group ticket sales, overall customer service, and sponsorship sales and support reach their short- and long-term goals.
Specific benefits that the Portland Trail Blazers expect to realize with Microsoft Dynamics CRM include the following:
- Ability to easily cross-sell to customers. The Portland Trail Blazers expect that the rich and easily accessible data available in its new CRM solution will help sales professionals create a more tailored sales offer. This is especially important with the recent repurchase of the Rose Garden because sales responsibilities now go beyond professional basketball.
- Greater integration capabilities. The Portland Trail Blazers expect their new Microsoft CRM system to help them seamlessly integrate their other systems due to the technology's built-in linking capabilities. For example, Microsoft CRM can integrate with a phone system so that when a call comes in the sales professional answering it can almost instantly know the preferences of the caller, which will help provide a more personalized customer experience.
- Flexibility. The Trail Blazers' current system cannot be easily customized due to its complexity. For example, the system's workflow cannot be easily added to or updated. The organization expects Microsoft CRM, due to its flexibility, to be fully capable of evolving alongside the Portland Trail Blazers' corporate culture and business goals.
- Web-based architecture. The Portland Trail Blazers expect the Web-based architecture of Microsoft CRM to deliver benefits in numerous ways, including the ability for sales and service representatives to walk among the crowds during events to update account information and make additional sales via handheld devices.
Microsoft partner Ascentium Corp., a leading technology and marketing consulting firm that specializes in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, is working with the Portland Trail Blazers to develop and implement the system. Ascentium's expertise was essential in identifying the right technology to best meet he needs of the Portland Trail Blazers."The Portland Trail Blazers is a dynamic business with complex scenarios and technology needs," said Michael Park, corporate vice president for the U.S. Dynamics business at Microsoft. "Microsoft Dynamics CRM has the power required to help this business rise to new heights with a new level of customer service."
